Central Asian Seminar “Future without Toxic Substances”

The seminar called “Future without Toxic Substances. Impact of toxic substances on the environment and the health of the population of Central Asia: Approaches for Problem Resolution” took place in Almaty on 11-13 February 2007. The situation regarding the chemical pollution in the Central Asian countries was discussed at the seminar, including the pollution by solid organic contaminators. The other issues addressed at the seminar were the status of the ratification of the conventions signed in Stockholm, Basel and Rotterdam, as well as the state of national legislation concerning chemical pollution. Two representatives of FSCI who spearhead the group working on chemical contaminators also participated at the seminar..
