The final seminar "Disaster risk reduction through sustainable environmental management practices in the Varzob district of Tajikistan"

The final workshop which summarizes results of the project on land-use practices, training and awareness workshops in the pilot Varzob jamoats during September 2014 - January 2015 held on 31 January 2015 in the Hukumat of Varzob district. The final workshop was dedicated to the International Year of the Soil, which was declared in 2015 by the UN.

EIA of vocational - technical institutions (schools) of the Republic of Tajikistan

Since the beginning of 2014 in Tajikistan launched the project of the Asian Development Bank - TVET / ADB «Strengthening Private sector participation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training». EIA is one part of the first phase of the project baseline. Project expert on environmental issues (representative of FSCI) were held offsite session in regions of the country, the purpose of which - the review of vocational institutions (schools) operating in the 4 regions of the Republic of Tajikistan, a preliminary EIA, preparation of a plan to reduce the negative impacts on the environment of the maintenance work on the reconstruction of schools.

Round table "Discussion of the first embodiment of the GHS development Strategy in Tajikistan"

Roundtable meeting to discuss the development of the first version of Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS Strategy) in Tajikistan was held in Dushanbe on November 13, 2014. Roundtable participants have become leading specialists of the ministries and departments involved in the government programs on the use of chemicals in Tajikistan. These representatives of ministries and departments have been nominated in the Co-ordination Group of the project for the development of the Strategy of the GHS in the initial stage of the project.

Practical trainings and educational seminars on sustainable land management in Varzob region

In the framework of the OSCE project "Disaster Risk Reduction through restoration of degraded land in the pilot areas of Varzob region" during October - November 2014 were carried out practical actions to reduce soil erosion and improve land use at the pilot territories of Varzob region: jamoat Luchob (village Kosatarosh), jamoat Dehmalik (village Pichandar), jamoat Chorbogh (village Okkuli bolo). Along with field trips in each village were conducted practical trainings for farmers and villagers about methods of reducing soil erosion on sloping lands. In the same period, were conducted successful educational workshops in the pilot jamoats on sustainable land management, grazing land, composting, reduce energy costs, protect gardens, etc.

The project "Introduction of sustainable land use practices in the pilot areas of Varzob region of the Republic of Tajikistan"

From October 2014 Public environmental organizations "Foundation to Support Civil Initiatives" (FSCI, Dastgiri Center) with the technical support of the OSCE began to implement a short-term demonstration project to improve land use in targeted areas of Varzob district of Tajikistan. As the pilot area for the project were selected the land of farmer facilities in rural villages of Jamoats Luchob, Chorbogh, Dehmalik.

The project envisages the introduction of affordable and accessible to the public land use practices leading to disaster risk reduction.

CONFERENCE Sustainable resource management in Central Asia and the goal of sustainable development (Kyrgyzstan, Cholpon-Ata, 30 September - 1 October 2014)

The conference brought together senior officials from the Office of the President, the National Council for Sustainable Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, experts in environmental sustainability programs in Georgia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. On the conference was held a master class on environmental issues and sustainable development in Central Asia for journalists and cameramen of Kyrgyzstan.. Representative of FSCI spoke at a conference with a presentation on sustainable ecosystems as a basis for sustainable development in the Central Asian region. The conference was organized by Ecological Movement of Kyrgyzstan "BIOM" with the technical support from Conrad Adenauer Foundation, which is more than 20 years working with NGOs in Central Asia
