On February 25, 2020 FSCI became a member of the Global Alliance for the elimination of lead in paints using.

The priority of the Global Alliance is stop out the phase out production and sale of lead containing paints and eliminate the risks arising from use of these paints. The objective and programme of the Global Alliance for the elimination of lead in paints use is in line with the direction of FSCI chemical safety actions over the past few years. FSCI is listed in the Global Alliance website https://www.who.int/ipcs/assessment/public_health/gaelp/ as the member of this international organization from the Republic of Tajikistan.

The training of the United Nations University (UNU) and UNEP for EE-waste statistics (Moscow, January 20-23, 2020)

The training of the United Nations University (UNU) and UNEP for EE-waste statistics was organized for Central and Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia countries. The purpose of the training was to increase the capacity of collecting EE-waste, assist countries in compiling internationally comparable EE-waste statistics, familiarize themselves with methods for collecting EE-waste statistics, exchange experiences, knowledge, tasks, improve coordination at the national level. The participants from Tajikistan were presented by leading employees of the Committee for environmental protection under the Government of RT, National Agency for statistics under the President of RT, environmental NGO - FSCI, Dastgirie-Center.

National strategy of UNDP-GEF Small Grants Program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2020-2025

The seminar of civil society organizations and local communities of Tajikistan to discuss the national strategy of UNDP-GEF SGP for the 7th operational period of the GEF (2020-2025) was held in Dushanbe on December 18, 2019. The purpose of the seminar was - to present and discuss with leaders and representatives of NGOs, civil society organizations, local communities of Tajikistan the National Strategy of UNDP-GEF SGP for 2020-2025.

The second Women's Water Forum "The Role and prospects of women's participation in integrated water resources management in the Tajik part of the Syrdarya river basin" (Guliston city, 28.12.2019)

The purpose of the forum: to Review the implementation of the recommendations to improve the effectiveness of women's participation in the integrated water resources management (IWRM) in the Tajik part of the Syrdarya river basin. The forum was held within the framework of the 11th Syrdarya Basin Dialogue. The representative of FSCI participated in the Forum as a member of the Association of women of Central Asia and Afghanistan "Women and water".

The working meeting of the Association of Central Asia, Afghanistan "Woman and water resouces" (CAAWWA) was held in Almaty on October 29-30, 2019. The purpose of the meeting was to revise and update the statutory documents of the Association, the action plan for 2019-2020, election of the Association's governing bodies.

International week for the prevention of lead poisoning in Tajikistan (FSCI, Dushanbe, 24 October 2019)

Within the framework of the International Week on prevention of lead poisoning FSCI under support of IPEN, organized the Round table in Dushanbe on October 24. The participants of the Round table were the leading specialists of the state bodies of the Republic of Tajikistan dealing with the problems of management of chemical pollutants. As a result of lively discussions and recommendations, was drown up the Protocol on the need to develop a Technical Regulation on lead-containing paints in Tajikistan in 2019.

Small Grants program in Tajikistan for the 7th GEF operational period

Public environmental organization "Foundation to support civil initiatives" (FSCI, Dastgiri Center) was selected by National Coordination Committee of SGP in Tajikistan to assess the current 6th strategy of SGP UNDP-GEF and develop a new Country Strategy of the Small Grants Program for the GEF 7th operating cycle, covering 2020-2025.
