The second Women's Water Forum "The Role and prospects of women's participation in integrated water resources management in the Tajik part of the Syrdarya river basin" (Guliston city, 28.12.2019)

The purpose of the forum: to Review the implementation of the recommendations to improve the effectiveness of women's participation in the integrated water resources management (IWRM) in the Tajik part of the Syrdarya river basin. The forum was held within the framework of the 11th Syrdarya Basin Dialogue. The representative of FSCI participated in the Forum as a member of the Association of women of Central Asia and Afghanistan "Women and water".

The working meeting of the Association of Central Asia, Afghanistan "Woman and water resouces" (CAAWWA) was held in Almaty on October 29-30, 2019. The purpose of the meeting was to revise and update the statutory documents of the Association, the action plan for 2019-2020, election of the Association's governing bodies.

International week for the prevention of lead poisoning in Tajikistan (FSCI, Dushanbe, 24 October 2019)

Within the framework of the International Week on prevention of lead poisoning FSCI under support of IPEN, organized the Round table in Dushanbe on October 24. The participants of the Round table were the leading specialists of the state bodies of the Republic of Tajikistan dealing with the problems of management of chemical pollutants. As a result of lively discussions and recommendations, was drown up the Protocol on the need to develop a Technical Regulation on lead-containing paints in Tajikistan in 2019.

Small Grants program in Tajikistan for the 7th GEF operational period

Public environmental organization "Foundation to support civil initiatives" (FSCI, Dastgiri Center) was selected by National Coordination Committee of SGP in Tajikistan to assess the current 6th strategy of SGP UNDP-GEF and develop a new Country Strategy of the Small Grants Program for the GEF 7th operating cycle, covering 2020-2025.

SUB-REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON LIQUIDATION OF LEAD IN PAINTS FOR CENTRAL ASIA AND EASTERN EUROPE (September 11-12, 2019, Tbilisi, Georgia)

The Subregional seminar was held as a part of technical assistance from US government to facilitate trade and economic ties between Central Asian countries, other countries and regions. A regional expert working group of the U.S. Commercial Law Development Standards Program identified lead paint as a priority issue for work in 2019. The seminar participants were leaders and leading employees of state bodies of Central Asian countries on standardization, environmental protection, public health. Members of the International Network for the Control of Chemical Pollutants (IPEN) from Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan were invited to the seminar as partners.

Meeting of the Public Council of the Republic of Tajikistan (Dushanbe, 27 August 2019)

The regular meeting of the Public Council of the Republic of Tajikistan (PC RT) was held in Dushanbe on August 27, 2019. The Main topic of the meeting was discussion of the economic reform of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, in the context of the Address of the Head of the State, Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, dated December 26, 2018. The head of FSCI who is the member of PC RT since 1996 took part in the meeting.

Meeting of the network of non-governmental organizations of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA countries), Volgograd, 19-20 August 2019

A two-day seminar of the international NGO network for the elimination of chemical pollutants was held by IPEN, Eco-Accord (IPEN focal point in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia), and the Volgograd-Ecopress Information Centre. A representative of the FSCI, as the member of IPEN since 2008, took part in the regional meeting.
