The two-day consultative meeting among the Central-Asian environmental NGO leaders took place on18-19 January, 2008 in the Dushanbe suburb (Varzob region). The main objective of the meeting was to strengthen collaboration with the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (UN CSD). The representative of FSCI was invited to this meeting.

The outcome of the consultative meeting was the Varzob Declaration: “Central-Asian NGOs’ Involvement in the Evaluation Process of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD-16-17). The report of Central-Asian NGOs will be presented to the Secretariat of the UN CSD at the CSD Preliminary meeting, which will be held on 26-28 February 2008 in Geneva, Switzerland.
