International Desertification Forum, Montpellier (France), September 21 – 23, 2006

The year 2006 was declared International Year of Deserts and Desertification at the 58th United Nations General Assembly. 2006 marks as well the 10th anniversary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. This anniversary was also an opportunity to celebrate the engagement of numerous civil society actors from all over the world in the fight against desertification and its various aspects. The mail result of the Forum was acceptance of the Montpellier’s Appeal to Combat Desertification. FSCI as a RIOD Focal Point of the UN Convention on Combat Desertification in Tajikistan and one of partner on implementation the program of communities mobilization on land management, was invited to this Forum.
