Gender policy in the energy sector (Astana, October 1-2, 2018)

A special session “Gender Policy in the Energy Sector” with the support of UNECE and UNDP was held in Astana within the framework of the International Petroleum Council. The goal of the seminar is ways to promote clean and affordable energy for women's empowerment, which will contribute to the realization of Goal 7 of Sustainable Development. Participants in the gender policy session were women leaders in all countries of Central Asia, including Tajikistan.

International Seminar "Assessment and risk management of water resources in the basins of transboundary rivers of Central Asia" (Dushanbe, September 26-27, 2018)

The seminar was held by the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan (with the support of USAID, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan) in the framework of the actions of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development(2018-2028)”.

Teleconference of CA countries "Adaptation to climate change" (September 25, 2018)

The purpose of the teleconference was to exchange and discuss the best practices of adaptation to climate change in the local communities of Central Asia. The teleconference was organized by the Association of Civil Society Development "ARGO", Kazakhstan under support of .Regional Offices of the World Bank in Central Asia, as well as by the World Bank offices in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan. FSCI representative was invited to meeting.

Regional meeting of the network of non-governmental organizations - members of IPEN countries of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA) (Issyk-Kul, August 27-28, 2018)

The workshop was organized by the International Network for the Elimination of Persistent Organic Pollutants (IPEN), uniting more than 700 public organizations working on chemical safety issues. The purpose of the meeting – overview of the main areas of work IPEN 2018-2020years and participation NGOs in EECCA countries in them. FSCI representative took part in the IPEN regional meeting.

International High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development", 2018-2028 (Dushanbe, June 20-22, 2018)

The Conference was held by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the United Nations and other partners to facilitate the implementation of the International Decade of Action, endorsed by UN General Assembly Resolution 71/222 of December 21, 2016. The main purpose of the Conference was to discuss further steps to implement the Plan of Action of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development", 2018-2028, at the global, regional and national levels, the development of specific recommendations for the implementation of the goals and objectives of sustainable development in the field of water resources. A representative of FSCI took part in the work of the Water Forum.

Training of the Coalition of Tajik’ Civil Society Organizations "Analysis of the data of the Second National EITI Report for 2015-2016" (Dushanbe, June 12-13, 2018)

The Coalition of the Tajik’ Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) “Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative” (EITI), conducted a training for the members of the Coalition on "Analysis of the Second National Report of the EITI for 2015-2016". The training was dedicated to assessing the implementation of corrective actions of the International EITI Board on the Tajikistan’ Second National EITI Report for 2015 - 2016. A representative of FSCI, a member of the CSOs coalition "Transparency for development", took part in the training.

The Second Central Asian International Environmental Forum (Tashkent, June 5-8, 2018)

The purpose of the CA Forum: Assistance in strengthening the dialogue between government agencies, the international development community, the scientific community, civil society and business structures in Central Asia on environmental issues. The main theme of the Forum was: strengthening cooperation in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development of Central Asian countries. A representative of FSCI was invited to participate in the 8th meeting of the EU-CA Working Group within the framework of the Platform for Cooperation in the Field of Environmental Protection and Water Management (WECOOP 2).
